What are the current mandates entrusted to a business coach?

By Mylène Grégoire, President and PCC coach at Mymosa &CO Consulting inc.

One client said to me, "I'd be curious to know the types of mandates that are entrusted to you so that I may use them as a guideline when setting my own coaching goals. I found the question so interesting that I decided to make a list.

Here are some examples of requests made by my clients:

1.      Taking my rightful place, and increasing my credibility and visibility within the company, while remaining myself.

2.      being heard and captivating impactfully to mobilize and commit people to achieving my goals.

3.      Increasing confidence in my abilities daily.

4.      Becoming an authentic and inspiring leader.

5.      Improving my assertiveness in saying no and being more effective in my delegation in an increasing workload environment.

6.      Establishing and adhering to an agenda that supports my business objectives and leaves room for my personal priorities.

7.      Providing constructive and fair feedback without diluting the issue or offending my interlocutors.

8.      Sharpening my strategic thinking, elevating my executive presence and influence with leaders.

9.      Demystify behaviors that prevent me from getting promoted, such as adjusting my image as an impatient and arrogant person, as well as developing strategies to manage them.

10.   Displaying more empathy and developing habits that will allow me to build lasting interpersonal relationships and sharpen my political skills.

11.   Dealing more effectively with people who are completely closed-minded and fixated on their own ideas.

12.   Taming and better managing the internal turmoil that invades me following unpleasant events (including my performance anxiety).

13.   Reinforcing my mental power, my fortitude, and integrating calm instantly during troubled and conflicting incidents.

14.   Silencing the nagging inner voice that tells me I’m not good enough to do my job.

15.   Accelerating and simplifying the transition from my role as an expert to that of a manager.

In any case, the reasons why people want to consult a business coach are associated with their values, beliefs, and motivations as well as the climate, the organizational culture, and the societal state. Overall, people are frequently looking for balance. They want to lighten their workload, feel comfortable in their role, experience satisfaction, demonstrate their value, contribute significantly, and obtain recognition.

And you, what reasons would motivate you to mandate a business coach?
