By Mylène Grégoire, President and PCC coach at Mymosa &CO Consulting inc.
Your role as a manager, is to recruit, manage, engage and retain talented employees. Those employees are often charmed by caring managers. Here is a list of questions to ask your employees in order to rekindle their professional flame.
What is the difference between what makes you smile and what makes you roar at work? And how can you increase the occurrence of the good things in your job?
What should be adjusted in your job description that would allow you to get out of your comfort zone, develop the skills you want, and become the greatest version of yourself, and thus, get you closer to your career goal?
What resources do you need to achieve your goals successfully, easily and enthusiastically?
You know I value your contribution. What kind of recognition would you like to have and how would you like to get it (private, public, time off, bonus)?
At any time, I would like you to tell me if you feel overworked. I certainly don't want to lead any of my employees to burnout... To what extent can we agree on this?
I really need your best ideas on this issue. Would you grant me this privilege?
Beyond the results, I want to express my appreciation for your efforts on this project. How do you think you inspired the team members with the energy you put into it?
I know you've been experiencing a lot of problems at work lately. What can I do to allow you to sleep better at night (e.g. listening, advice, solutions)?
I hear that you seem disappointed with your mistake and I understand your distress. How do you plan to fix it and move on so that we can all benefit from your smile again?
You know that I appreciate you and that I’m being honest with you. How open are you to discussing the things that make you shine and those that tarnish your image at work?
